Implementation of new forms of education through simulation of real environment of companies and enterprising represent an important part of the Institute's activities, performed at specialized workplace of the Institute – the Slovak Center for Training Firms.
The Slovak Center for Training Firms (SCCF) was established in accordance with the decision of ME SR with Austrian material support. It is a member of world-wide EUROPEN network; it develops simulation method of training firms aimed at mediation of competencies for establishing and management of small and medium sized companies in the framework of secondary vocational education. It simulates state administration – commercial court, trades licensing office, board of revenue, health and social insurance companies together with employment agency and a bank; it coordinates, methodically guides and innovates the course of events in Slovak network of training firms, it holds seminars for heads of training firms and organizes the national fair of training firms with international participation.

SCCF operation is very important for the development of new learning methods at secondary commercial schools, but not only at them. This statement is confirmed by the fact that training firms operate currently at all types of secondary technical schools. A training firm prepares students theoretically and practically for activities of commercial companies within the average enterprising domain.

Besides this it works in the area of international vocational education projects ( PHARE, MVF, Leonardo da Vinci programs etc.), into which it integrates also training firms and schools which they operate at, thus participating in enhancing quality of their know-how growth.

The work in a training firm is one of the most dynamically developing and promising teaching subjects in the environment of Slovak education, with broader use in the future. It means a new concept of education supporting development of multi-disciplinary skills – so-called key competencies: ability to communicate, creatively tasks resolution, ability of team-work, critical and independent thinking. Working in training firm offers a unique space for knowledge deepening and for acquisition of competencies in a group situated in an organization of a training company and at the same time it is located on the training firms market within the environment of which it reacts lively.

Training firms represent an ideal educational environment for obtaining important skills of economic practice. They operate in real time and are in most cases interconnected on-line with other training firms in the framework of domestic and foreign training markets.
